Trajectories of Antifascism Conference

In early 2017, only a few months after the stunning election of Donald Trump and a lot of casual use of the term “fascist,” Rutgers Professor Jochen Hellbeck hosted a conference on the “Trajectories of Antifascism” over the course of the twentieth century. We chose a lithograph created in 1936 by Manual Marola, a Spanish artist, as the visual theme for the conference. I used GIMP to create a larger light beam emanating from the lighthouse which would allow for text to appear inside, and then used Scribus to manipulate each letter individually so that the “ANTIFASCISM” of the conference title fills the beam.
